Release for Lake County, Indiana HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS REQUEST Effective February 17, 2012 the Northwest Indiana Community Action Corporation (NWICA) on behalf of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) funded by the U.S. Housing and Urban Development will open the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) Waiting List for Lake County, Indiana. NWICA will accept application requests by phone only for the first 100 callers on February 17, 2012 between 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM; no calls will be taken after 12:00 PM. Call 219-794-1849 on February 17, 2012 between 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM to request an application. If you need a Reasonable Accommodation of any kind please inform the housing representative while requesting an application. Applicants are placed on the waiting list by order of preference points, then by date and time of application. Preference points are granted for residency; homelessness; working families; ( full-time students or employed at least 35 hours a week); elderly; non-elderly disabled; disabled family member; or at risk of institutionalization. Applications will not be accepted outside the dates and times listed above. Placement on the waiting list is not a guarantee that applicants will qualify for assistance.
