NWICA and the NWI A$$et Building Campaign proudly
kick off this season's free tax preparation campaign.
Beginning Saturday, January 28th Northwest Indiana families with less than $50,000 annual income may take advantage of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at several designated sites.
Families are asked to bring:
- Proof of Identification
- Social security cards for the taxpayer, spouse, children and other dependents and/or SSN Verification letter issued by the Social Security Administration.
- Birth dates for you, spouse and dependents on the tax return
- Bank Routing and Account numbers for Direct Deposit (a blank voided check)
- Payment amounts for student loan interest, childcare expenses and college tuition
- All W-2 and 1099 and W-2G statements
- Amount of Indiana rent and landlord address or property taxes paid
- Total paid for daycare and the provider's EIN or SSN
- Advance child tax credit notification letter (if applicable)
- Records of rent/mortgage statements
- Any other tax-related information is helpful
We encourage the public to have taxes filed at the A$$et Building Campaign Office (located inside The Urban League) at 3101 Broadway Gary. This 'Super Saturday' location will be open from 9am to 1:00pm February 4, 11, 18, 25 and March 3, 17, 24, 31, and April 14th.
Ivy Tech College, 410 E. Columbus Dr. in East Chicago, will also host a 'Super Saturday' free tax preparation event on March 10th and April 7th from 9am-1pm.
